This Lukyanov said at the Jan. 15 press conference.
The members of the royal family - Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra and their children Alex, Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia - were shot by a decision of the Presidium of Uralsoveta the night of 16 to 17 July 1918 in Yekaterinburg, where they were detained for three months.

Then it was decided to burn the body with gasoline and kerosene, and those for whom the liquid fuel is not enough, disfigured with acid and buried nearby.
Criminal investigation into the death of the family of Nicholas II was conducted by General Prosecutor Office since 1993. It was initiated in two years after the discovery of a mound of Old Koptyakovskoy roads remains of members of the royal family. It is worth noting that the investigation of the case is stopped then resumed. However, exactly a year ago on Jan. 15, 2009 the Central Investigation Department of UPC Russia finally ceased criminal investigation in connection "with the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal responsibility and the death of those who have committed premeditated murder." The phrase "murder" means a lot. It follows that the Romanovs were not victims of political repression, but a simple criminal. It has not been any political will to crack down on the imperial family, and people committed the execution act almost on their own initiative.

Representatives of the Romanov dynasty have long disputed the decision of the Prosecutor General in the courts of various levels: in Tver, in the Moscow City Court, and finally, the Supreme Court. They argued that the shooting of the royal family has been committed by a decision of the supreme bodies of state power: the All-Russia Central Executive Committee (Central Executive Committee) and the Council of People's Commissars.
In support of its position of representatives of the imperial house found dozens of documents with references to archival codes, such as a telegram to Chairman of the Central Executive Committee Uralsoveta Yakov Sverdlov on enforcement, as well as an extract from the minutes of the meeting of Central Executive Committee July 18, 1918, which stated: "recognize that the decision of the Ural Regional Soviet to shoot the royal family is right ".
As a result of the Presidium of the Supreme Court agreed with their position and agreed on the rehabilitation of Nicholas II and his family.
Moscow's Basmanny Court decided today to postpone to February 1 meeting regarding the claim from head of Imperial House, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna. Investigator Vladimir Solovyov, who ordered to close the criminal case, didn’t attend the meeting.
